Access Statement

General Access – Approach to the Hotel and enjoyment of the town- centre facilities

  • Rosemount Hotel, Pitlochry is a small Hotel with quiet bar and Restaurant. It occupies an elevated position, looking over the town of Pitlochry and the Tummel Valley and upwards to the hills of Craigower.
  • The pedestrian pavement to the town, though not of great distance, is of mixed width, quality and continuity.
  • Disabled parking along the town centre kerbside is fairly limited on very busy occasions as the town is small in relation to the demand for parking at the height of season.
  • Appropriately sized car parks are available at each end of the High Street.
  • The Hotel grounds have a slight incline towards the drive entrance, but are flat around the perimeter of the building.
  • Any steps into the building are a maximum of 2 cm.
  • Grounds are a mix of tarmac and gravel, with the perimeter of the building being completely of tarmac.

 

Manoeuvering within the Hotel and enjoyment of the Hotel facilities

  • The physical limitations of the Hotel building mean it is not possible to create unhindered wheelchair access throughout and structural support in newer parts was created under older regulations. This means that larger wheelchairs will have difficulty navigating some of the ground floor areas and no room is suitable for this size of vehicle. Standard size wheelchairs are, however, able to freely navigate our ground floor areas including Lounge, Restaurant, Bar and the accommodation within our Ground Floor Suite.
  • There is no lift.
  • The Ground Floor Suite is our only accommodation unit suitable for persons who permanently use a wheelchair for mobility. It has its own separate entrance to the car park and an additional entrance into the hotel. The room is sizeable, some 30sqm. There is a “wet-room” shower with shower stool available. Structural constraints mean that this is accessible only with standard size wheelchairs. It is our intention to purchase a raised seat attachment for the toilet and to affix a range of handrails to the walls of the bathroom. Please phone the hotel to ensure this work has been completed should you require the facility, prior to making a booking. We engage in dialogue with our wheelchair-using guests for suggestions of ways in which we can improve this facility.
  • We have two further ground-floor rooms (Economy Double, Economy Twin/Single) suitable for persons with mobility difficulties. These both have baths, however. We plan to replace the baths with “wet-room” showers, which will then facilitate their use for wheelchair-dependent persons (standard size chairs only) Please ring the hotel to check for availability of the “wet-room” showers before booking.
  • Please notify us, upon booking, of any impairment which may require assistance in the event of emergency.
  • Hotel staff will assist with carrying of luggage, if required.

Services for visually and audibly impaired persons

  • Guide dogs are welcome throughout the building, except in 50% of the letting bedrooms, which are designated pet-free to cater for persons with allergies.
  • Please notify us, upon booking, of any impairment which may result in the requirement for assistance in the event of emergency.
  • Hotel staff will assist with carrying of luggage, if required.

Toilet Facilities

  • A disabled toilet is available on the Ground Floor for public use.

Counter/Service areas

  • There is a low table at Reception for completion of check-in documentation.
  • The Bar counter is of standard height, but staff are pleased to offer table service.

Evacuation

  • Emergency exits are fully accessible for standard size wheelchairs

 

  • Please notify us, upon booking, of any impairment which may result in the requirement for assistance in the event of emergency.
  • Staff undergo basic training procedures and will be aware to assist in aiding persons out of the building. Please make this requirement known to us when booking.
