Booking Hotel Scotland – Touring Recommendations

Tours beyond the immediate locality of Pitlochry Perthshire can be taken along circular routes to avoid repetitive covering of the same ground. We’ve compiled a short list below:-

North to Aviemore and the Cairngorm National Park – 1 Day with lots to see enroute

  • Tour in the direction of Aviemore taking in Dalwhinnie Distillery, The Highland Wildlife Park at Kingussie or the Highland Folk Museum at Newtonmore. Onwards, then to Rothiemurcus and the Cairngorm National Park. Maybe return via Loch Insch and call in at the Watersports Centre for tea as the sun sets over the Loch
Hotel Scotland offers

Cairngorm viewed from Loch Morlich on the northern edge of Rothiemurcus Estate

West to Fort William via Dalwhinnie and Spean Bridge, returning via  stunning Glencoe and Loch Tay

  • An alternative route takes us West at Dalwhinnie heading for Spean Bridge and Fort William, then back to Pitlochry via stunning Glencoe, Crianlarich, Killin and Loch Tay.

The road through Glen Coe and the Three Sisters of Glencoe. Stunning!

South East to Fife via Perth and Dundee to St Andrews, Crail and Anstruther

This is a day packed with opportunities. The route takes in the cities of Perth and Dundee, along the stunning Carse of Gowrie, with its string of quality Antique Centres and stunning scenery. An alternative approach through the rustic Sidlaw Hills can be highlighted. Both cities may be bypassed in favour of the adventures ahead in Fife .

The route introduces a wealth of possibilities as Fife is steeped in history, both religious and commercial. St Andrews was the religious centre of Scotland in pre-reformation days and it boasts a magnificent ruined Cathedral overlooking a massive expanse of sandy beach. Sandy beaches are an unexpected surprise in Scotland, but they are an exquisite addition to the rich list of possibilities for making memories. Along the east neuk coast, you’ll find a string of very attractive fishing villages with architecture very noticeably influenced by the Dutch style. This area  once had the largest fishing industry in Europe and had strong trade links with the Netherlands.
