New Year Celebrations in Pitlochry Perthshire

The celebration on New Year’s Eve and the Pitlochry Street Party on the 1st January offer traditional ways of marking this festival. Hogmanay evolved from the ancient Viking celebrations of the Winter Solstice. These included many days of wild festivities in late December. Nowadays, probably, the festivities run along slightly milder lines. However, there’s certainly a tradition for great fun.

At Rosemount, there’s a Hogmanay Feast  with Piper just before the bells. Late Brunch on the 1st of January precedes the famous Pitlochry New Year Street Party. If you’ve never been, then we highly recommend this gathering of folks from far and wide to share in this tradition of feasting and dance, whatever the weather.

Another tradition for New Year’s day is to supper on Steak Pie with at least one dram of whisky. Steak Pie is available on 1st January, at Rosemount, along with a choice of other dishes for a hearty and warming dinner. Good company and fireside chat with a good range of malts, local beers and wines are the order of the evening.
