Hotels in Pitlochry that allow dogs

We know that, for many pet owners, a holiday is simply not a holiday when their dog is not able to come along too. Our  Pitlochry Hotels dog friendly policy states that pets are positively encouraged to come and stay, rather than being merely tolerated. This is simply a statement of our natural culture, and not a marketing ploy. Check us out on tripadvisor for a full insight into our dog owning guests’ experiences. We are not afraid to ask one or two polite courtesies from our dog families in order to make our dog inclusive policy a positive for all of our guests. The vast majority of our dog-owning guests applaud this and tell us they would practice our few small requests, anyway.

A dog friendly Pitlochry Hotel that loves to have dogs as guests

Dog friendly Regular Rooms

Our furball visitors are as much our guests as their owners. When your dog arrives, we want to know their name. A welcome “Bark Bag” awaits their arrival with:-

  • a map of local walks – a 40 mile network of dog friendly, waymarked paths – up hill, down dale and through pleasant woodland glades. Stroll along river and loch, with safe swimming areas. You’ll venture past tumbling waterfalls and rapids and ascend to stunning, open vistas.
  • directions to the “lettin’ off steam” park (just across the road – and conveniently supplied with red doggy bins).
  • a treat
  • a disposable  dog towel. Just a wee token of appreciation for helping us keep our great standards of cleanliness.

. . .  and we totally “get” the thing about bringing the dog away

We’re dog owners, ourselves, and we really hate going away without our dogs – Oscar and Anouk. It’s miserable leaving them behind and the whole experience of a holiday is diminished without them. The evidence is clear that this is a big need in many folks lives and we work hard to make it possible for our guests to bring their dogs away with them. A lot of time is devoted in trying to improve our Hotels in Pitlochry dog friendly offering. It is important to us that all guests are delighted that we accept dogs.

Great facilities for Dog Friendly Hotels Pitlochry

Below, is a photo of our Ground Floor Junior Suite. This is a shining example of what is possible for dog friendly accommodation Scotland. It is a large room with its own separate external entrance via a private porch. This is great for those squelchy days when the dog needs a bit of cleaning down before bringing into the room. It is one of several rooms in which we are pleased to offer dog-families visiting Rosemount Hotel – a sincerely dog friendly hotel for a pet friendly holiday in Pitlochry, Scotland.

Ground Floor Junior Suite

Our ground floor junior suite is the perfect dog friendly accommodation. It is extremely spacious and has a second entrance leading to the car park. There is a handy porch where the inevitable drying off can be undertaken without making the room feel damp.

It’s great to integrate our dog guests with all guests. However, naturally this presents a bit of an issue in the Restaurant. Luckily, there are dedicated areas in our Bar and Lounge where there are dining facilities for guests to enjoy their meals in the company of their dogs. Hopefully, this contributes well as part of Rosemount’s Pitlochry hotels dog friendly offering. Nothing warms our hearts more than to see several dogs lying on our rugs of an evening whilst their owners chat and make new friendships over a glass of wine or malt. Check out our dog friendly hotel deals and make a great saving on your well earned break with your best pal.

Just across the road from the Hotel is a park with very useful red bins. Beyond this are 40 miles of waymarked trails for you to enjoy. Additionally, there are some off-map areas that we can recommend to suit different requirements. We just love our work as a dog-friendly Pitlochry Hotel. There is no greater personal satisfaction than when we see a happy dog come through our door, tired out after a day on the hills or in the forest. Needless to say, that unique canine joie-de-vivre is infectious and raises a smile on all faces.

There is no better place to take a dog on holiday than where there is mile upon mile of stunning walking country. We recommend:-

Pitlochry Walks

Black Spout Wood Walk

A saunter through light, dappled woodland to a delightful waterfall. For a longer stretch, press on to Edradour Distillery and enjoy the gorgeous downhill amble back into town. The views are breathtaking. Refreshment at the Moulin Inn or Pitlochry Golf Club enroute. This walk leads from the door of Rosemount Hotel Pitlochry. It can be modified to circuits of varying length which take from around 40 minutes to several hours to enjoy. The great things about this area is that it is away from roads and, until you get towards Edradour, away from sheep. Consequently dogs can be let off-lead. There is also a small pitch and putt area whose periphery can be used to settle the dog with a ball, if necessary.

 Black Spout Wood Pitlochry

Ben Vrackie, Beallach-na-Searmoin, Ben y Ghlo and Craigower Hill.

(Fabulous scenic hillwalks with a range of degrees of challenge)

Ben Vrackie is a well known and much-admired hill which forms the ever-changing and scenic northerly landscape to the bustling resort town of Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire. Because “the Ben” sits to the north of the town, the sun lights its rugged southerly aspect, emphasising the contrast between greens, purples and greys in an ever-moving and dramatic way. All this against an equally dynamic and stunningly contrasting sky.

Views of- and from Ben Vrackie, with thanks to Jenny Herdman and Anatoly Zelenin for shares of two of the photos.

Ben Vrackie translates as `speckled mountain` and comes from a time when white quartz rocks were scattered across its slopes. On a good clear day the view from the summit of 2,757 ft (841 m) is tremendous with the Beinn a Ghlo range to the north and the sweep of Strathtay and Strathtummel to the west. In exceptional conditions it is even possible to see Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.

The walk to the summit of this imposing backdrop to Pitlochry town (sometimes known as Ben y Vrackie)  is approximately 3 hours  there and back from Rosemount Hotel Pitlochry. The path is well-constructed for most of the route, passing beside Moulin Burn and then across heather moorland.  A Lochan situated two thirds of the way up provides good safe swimming for dogs – an ideal cooler on a hot day. The final section is more demanding, but worth a little effort in return for the rewarding views. Red grouse and red deer live on the hillside and sometimes a flash of white can indicate the presence of the shy mountain hare.

Loch Dunmore

An instantly-loveable, small Loch, just outside Pitlochry, surrounded by mixed woodland and teeming with wildlife, such as Red Squirrel, Kingfishers, Woodpeckers, Owls and some beautiful water birds. A wee holiday treat!

Killiecrankie, Queen’s View, Blair Atholl and Bruar

Killiecrankie and Blair Atholl

The Pass of Killiecrankie

An impressive , tree-lined gorge which is simply breathtaking in Autumn, but beautiful all year around. Lots of shelter for the dog, but part of the circuit walk is along a highly scenic road, where, unfortnately , one or two cars may travel too fast. Here a leash is recommended.

Queens View.

A must-visit place during holidays in the Pitlochry area. The panoramic view has been described as “spine-tingling”.

Allean Forest Walk.

Near to Queen’s View. A steady uphill walk, passing an abandoned crofting farmstead enroute. One of the buildings has been re-constituted to give a fascinating insight into the realities of living in this area in days gone by. Wonderful views over Loch Tummel towards Schiehallion on the horizon.

Blair Atholl, with Blair Castle,

visitor centre and country life museum, working watermill and Glen Tilt walks. Blair Castle offers many hours of historical education and interest. Pony trekking and wildlife safaris are bookable within its splendid grounds. Additionally, walkers and cyclists may find a whole network of trails leading from the castle gates. Cycle hire is available just opposite. There is plenty enough to spend a whole day exploring in this delightful hamlet. Just a few miles from Pitlochry.

House of Bruar and the Falls of Bruar.

A pleasing combination of top-end visitor facility with a delightful walk passing two waterfalls.

Glen Lyon

This powerfully beautiful area is often described as the most beautiful Glen in Scotland. Please take a trip along this beautiful landscape during you Pitlochry holiday. You can drive onwards to Loch Tay and Kenmore, then on to Aberfeldy, the Spirit of Wood, Dewars Distillery and the Highland Chocolatier. A fabulous day out.

Bargain Weekend Breaks Pitlochry

Aberfeldy and Strathtay

A quaint Highland town with independent shops, arty cafes and an art-house style cinema. Although the town is only 20 minutes direct drive away, there are several beautiful, scenic routes that we recommend our guests to take with many points of interest, eateries and viewpoints enroute. All in all – a full day of feasting the eyes, the soul and the belly!

The Highland Chocolatier

Exquisite chocolate made in situ. Pop over the road to see the rapids

Hermitage Dunkeld

Dunkeld and the Hermitage Forest walk

The romance of a semi-ruined Cathedral right on the banks of the Tay and a picture-perfect wee Highland town. Great walks around and about

We hope to get to meet you and your best pal too!
